Spacedrive Gas/brake Joystick and Steering Joystick

The Adaptations on this vehicle were manufactured and customised specifically to suit the Driver of this vehicle. The Driver of this vehicle has a progressive form of Muscular Dystrophy, which results in reduced function in both upper and lower limbs and severe muscle weakness.

Base Vehicle/Stage One Conversion: Renault Kangoo 1.6l Authentique (Automatic) - Sirus Kan-go with remote rear access.

Wheelchair Used: Invacare Spectra Plus

Stage Two Conversion: Adaptacar Ltd Custom Build 'Drive from Wheelchair' Conversion

Accelerator: Spacedrive 2-way Gas/brake Lever with T-bar mounted for RH use.

Brake: Spacedrive 2-way Gas/brake Lever with T-bar mounted for RH use.

Steering: Spacedrive 2-way Joystick Steering mounted for LH use. Original Steering wheel replaced with a Mountney 12" wheel and custom built quick release steering boss to provide additional space for adaptations.

Gear Selection: The original Sirus Gear Selector was removed and replaced with a Spacedrive Electronic push button gear selector (incorporated into Steering system)

Ignition/Start: Adaptacar Push button ignition system with key reader slot. The Driver simply drops the original key into a custom built box, which reads the chip and switches off the imobiliser. The vehicle can then be started by pressing the 'ignition' and 'start' buttons.

Controls (indicators, wipers,etc): Sojadis 12-way Bleeper System operates Indicators, horn, wipers, lights on/off and dip/main, washers, etc via single button mounted on Gas/brake T-bar. When the button is depressed the system emits a series of 'bleeps'. The Driver simply selects the desired function by counting the number of bleeps and then releasing the button.

The Original electric window and fan switches were re-positioned and mounted in the switch box above the Joystick steering system.

Parkbrake: Sirus Electric parkbrake (operated via a switch on the dash)

Wheelchair Restraint:  EZ Lock Wheelchair Restraint mounted in Drivers station. Solo 4-point Mechanical restraint mounted in rear for Wheelchair passenger.

Seating: The Original drivers seat was modified to fit into the EZ Lock so that it can be re-fitted for able bodied drivers. A 'Drive into' seatbelt system has been fitted into this vehicle so that the driver does not have to unclip the belt to use it.

Access: Original Sirus remote controlled rear door opener and powered tail ramp.

Mirrors, etc: Panoramic rear view mirror and shroud mounted blind spot mirrors.

Additional Safety Systems: Firetrace system, Protex puncture sealant and Instructor foot brake mounted in passenger footwell.
